Beach Hotel Seestern

Beach Hotel Seestern

Baltic Sea spa Baabe on Rügen – Small but mighty!

Only 100 meters separate the captivating Beach Hotel Seestern from the white, soft-sand beach. With soft sand underfoot, take in fishing boats and beach chairs as your eyes scan the horizon. The waves might gently lap up on the beach, or they could come crashing ashore, depending on the weather. Lovers of the Baltic Sea call this “amber weather” – the ideal time to comb the shore for amber, the gold of the Baltic Sea.

Around the hotel

About the hotel

No hotel in Baabe is closer to the beach than “Seestern”. Its distinctive tower and bright yellow exterior lend it its unique appearance. It is no coincidence that Hotel Seestern is depicted so often on postcards. Its commanding yellow and blue permeate all rooms and contribute – together with its many windows and pictures, lighting, and friendly, helpful staff – to the wellbeing of its guests.

Of the hotel’s 43 comfortable rooms, we especially recommend our 2-floor maisonette rooms, which have a living room and bathroom on the lower level and a staircase connecting the living room with the sleeping gallery and upstairs bathroom. The four rooms accessible for those with disabilities include an accessible bathroom and a small terrace.

The hotel’s additional facilities comprise a terracotta-colored sauna area with a Finnish sauna and steam bath, a cozy reading room with a fireplace, and the restaurant “Rugia”, which overlooks the adjacent spa park. Allow yourself to be pampered with buffet breakfasts and dinners here, or take your lunch à la carte. In the summer, the beautiful outdoor terrace is an ideal spot to enjoy coffee, cake or a sundae.

About the place

Baltic Sea spa Baabe is located on an isthmus in southeast Rügen within in a UNESCO biosphere reserve with protected shoreline and beach vegetation. Baabe's location on the island has allowed various landscapes to develop: deciduous and coniferous forests, a hilly lagoon area and the Baltic coast. Baabe was chosen as the most beautiful spa and recreation resort on Rügen in 2002, 2004 and 2009. It became the first allergy-friendly community in all of Europe in 2008, when it was awarded the prestigious ECARF Seal of Allergy Friendliness.

Baabe may be the smallest Baltic Sea spa on Rügen, yet has one of its most beautiful sandy beaches: gently sloping and ideal for children. A watchtower staffed with lifeguards keeps swimmers safe. “New Baabe”, the area around Strandstraße, has many new hotels and small shops built in the style of spa and health resorts of 1900. “Old Baabe” boasts villas dating back to 1900, as well as many holiday apartments.

Leisure

Whether you are looking for rest and relaxation or for activity, the beach of Baabe is pure pleasure. At two kilometers by 25 meters, its soft white sand makes it perfect for bathing, beach volleyball, surfing and much more. Admire the beauty of the coast during a passenger ship excursion.

Traditional steam engine enthusiasts (as well as the uninitiated) are strongly recommended to take a trip on Germany's oldest narrow-gauge railroad “Rasender Roland” (“Racing Roland”). The pier of Sellin is within walking distance. From there, you can walk to the hunting lodge Jagdschloss Granitz, or take the bus to Binz, where you can catch the mini-train “Jagdschlossexpress” to the lodge.

The tallest and best-known chalk cliff in Jasmund National Park is the Königsstuhl. Its 120-meter viewing platform offers a magnificent view of the Baltic Sea. Königstuhl National Park Center is located here as well. Jasmund National Park, with its 500 hectares of beechwood, was recently declared a world natural heritage site and is ideal for hiking, horseback riding and cycling in almost untouched nature. Other attractions include the seaport of Sassnitz, the protected landscape around Kap Arkona and Schlosspark Putbus. Those interested in local customs and traditions should not miss out on the Mönchguter Museums, while the technologically inclined will find plenty of information in the Railway and Technology Museum. Other rewarding destinations are the School Museum Middelhagen, the Mönchguter Hofbrennerei “Zur Strandburg” with its whiskey distillery, and “KulturKunststatt Prora”. Karls Erlebnishof in Zirkow with its more than 40 attractions and free admission for the entire family is a rewarding destination regardless of the weather. The impressive new Naturerbe Zentrum Rügen is open year-round. Walking along a treetop path, visitors can understand and experience nature at eye-level with massive beech trees and from the 82-meter watchtower enjoy a spectacular view of the island's unique landscape. The Störtebeker Festival (late June-early September) at the Ralswiek open-air theater is a must for all visitors to the island of Rügen!
